Photographic work co-created with initiated Yankunytjatjara man Derik Lynch alongside the making of Marungka tjalatjunu (Dipped in Black). Made during Lynch’s road trip from Adelaide back to his home Aputula for spiritual healing.

Produced as short film, installation film, and a standalone photographic series, the work received the Silver Bear (Short film) & Teddy Award (Short film) at Berlinale / Documentary Australia Award at the Sydney film festival, and has been exhibited at Photo Festival Australia, Lagos Photo Festival Nigeria, and the Hamburg Triennial of Photography Germany.

The sand that ate the sea, is a durational documentation of the South Australian opal-mining town of Andamooka where my family are Opal Miners. Made over two years living on and off in the town, the series uses film and photography to record the mining community, its impact on the Country of the Kokatha and Adnyamathanha people, the township itself, and the surrounding deserts and opal fields.
